This project unfolds within a specific field marked by three poles of tension: symbol, abstract image, and technical graphic.
Each of these three poles corresponds to different modes of interpreting visual information. A symbol or image—even if we cannot fully decipher it—refers us to a layer or corpus of texts, archetypes, and practices. An abstract image is pure visual information that cannot be read in the same way as a text or a symbol. Technical graphics, on the other hand, are organized in such a way that, upon encountering them, they provoke an intuitive search for how they might be instrumentalized—that is, such objects inherently suggest the need for a literal reading and practical application of the information.
The collision of these three perceptual registers within a single cluster of visual information triggers a kind of perceptual short-circuit, where we can no longer say with certainty what it is that we are looking at. Crucially, this is not a matter of intentional determination, where one consciously decides how to relate to an object, but rather a matter of (un)certainty that operates on the level of the basic mechanisms of vision itself.
